16 · Design studio
The Design studio is the platform's built-in design editor. You create design documents — diagrams, posters, social tiles, docs, and whiteboards — on a canvas, version them, and share them with colleagues or via a public link.
Where to find it
Sidebar → Design or /studio. Any user can open it — it is not
admin-restricted.
Design document types
When you create a design you pick a type, which sets the canvas size:
| Type | Icon | Canvas size |
|---|---|---|
| Diagram | 📐 | 1600 × 1000 |
| Poster | 🖼️ | 1240 × 1754 |
| Social | 📱 | 1080 × 1080 |
| Doc | 📄 | 1240 × 1754 |
| Whiteboard | 🧩 | 2400 × 1400 |
Layout
/studio is a grid of your design documents:
+-----------------------------------------------------------+
| Design studio. [+ New design] |
|-----------------------------------------------------------|
| [My designs] [All org] Type — all ▾ |
|-----------------------------------------------------------|
| 📐 Network diagram 📱 Q2 social tile 🖼️ Open day |
| DIAGRAM · 3 versions SOCIAL POSTER · 🌐 |
+-----------------------------------------------------------+

The My designs / All org toggle switches scope, and a type filter narrows the grid. Each card shows the type, last-updated time, version and share counts, and a 🌐 marker if it has a public link.
Creating a design
- Click + New design.
- Give it a name.
- Pick a type (sets the canvas size — see table above).
- Create — you open straight into the editor.
The editor
/studio/<id> is the canvas editor. It has a left tool rail, the
canvas in the middle, and a Properties panel on the right.
+------+------------------------------+----------------------+
| ↖ | | Properties |
| ▭ | [ design canvas ] | Fill ■■■■■■■■ |
| ◯ | | Font size ----o-- |

Tools
- Select (↖) — move and resize existing objects
- Rect (▭) — draw a rectangle
- Ellipse (◯) — draw an ellipse
- Text (T) — add a text object
- Line (╱) — draw a line
- Image (🖼) — add an image by URL
Pick a tool and click the canvas to drop an object; it then switches back to Select. Drag objects to move them, drag the corner handle to resize.
Properties
With nothing selected, the Properties panel lets you set the canvas background colour from a fixed palette.
With an object selected you can edit it:
- Rect / Ellipse / Image — fill colour
- Text — content, font size, colour, bold
- Line — colour, thickness
- Duplicate and Delete the selected object
Keyboard: Delete removes the selected object, Ctrl+D duplicates it.
Saving
The canvas auto-saves a short moment after you stop editing — the header shows Saving… / Unsaved / Saved.
Versions
Click + Version to save a named snapshot of the current canvas. Versions (n) opens the version history, where each entry shows its label, author, and timestamp — Restore rolls the canvas back to that snapshot. Only users with edit access can save or restore versions.
Sharing
The document owner can Share a design:
- Per-user sharing — add a user and grant view or edit access. Toggle a share between view/edit or remove it.
- Public link — tick Anyone with the link can view to generate a
public, view-only URL (
/studio/share/<token>). Untick to revoke.
Only the owner can share, toggle the public link, or delete the design.
